Sacred Valley tour, 1 day:

Ollantaytambo
Price: US$30 - group service up to 30 people.
In this tour, you will visit the most important Incan sites in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where the Willcamayu (Sacred) river flows. During the time of the Incas, this river was worshiped as a source of divine life and believed to be related to the Milky Way.
We start from the Cusco’s Main Square at 8:30 am and head to Pisac along the highlands of Cusco, passing by small villages located on the slope of the mountains and surrounded by fields of corn, potatoes, barley, among other grops, which only grown in the rainy season. We will stop at the lookout in the town of Taray to see the corn plantations and the Urubamba River flowing through the Sacred Valley. In this valley, farmers cultivate the biggest grains of corn in the world (one of over 1000 species of corn in Peru). We keep driving down to Pisac and up to Pisac’s archeological site. There, you will have a guided tour of about an hour, in which we walk by the cemetery, the stone walls built on top of the hills, and down to the sacred section of the ruins, where stones are fitted together in the traditional Incan style and you can view the terraces surrounding the entire town of Pisac. This site could be called the second Machu Picchu due its location and size.
We will take the bus down to Pisac, where you have 30 minutes to purchase souvenirs in the traditional market, where local people still practice the old bartering system on Sundays.
After heading out of Pisac, you will go by bus along the Sacred Valley, where there is a nice view of corn plantations and the Urubamba River. We pass by the towns of Lamay and Calca, stopping off in Urubamba for lunch.
After lunch we'll drive to Ollantaytambo "one of the oldest living Incan cities" encompassed by narrow stone streets and water canals that are still in use today. There, we will visit the sacred ruins built on the slope of the mountain, comprised of beautiful, perfectly fitted stones of monumental sizes. All these stones were taken from the other side of the mountain, the Cachicata Inca Quarrie.
We will continue driving up to the 3800 m (12,459 ft) to the location of Chinchero, where we will see the remains of terraces and sacred Incan walls near which the Spaniards built a Catholic church.
Following this section of the tour, you will head back to Cusco, enjoying the magnificent views of glaciers, mountains and agricultural fields along the drive back. The farming communities in these regions still practice subsistence farming, waiting for the rainy season for their one harvest a year.
